To make sure you have every opportunity for food, friends, and fun to mix at Tulane, we cater to the “comfort foods” of a hugely diverse student population while incorporating New Orleans culinary traditions and supporting Louisiana's foodways. Our resident dining room, Bruff Commons, is the heart of our commitment to sustainability, nutrition, and variety – you can take a virtual tour here. And whether you're dining at Bruff, eating at the medical school's Food Court, or using reciprocal dining privileges at Loyola University, we have hours and meal plans that will work for you – and that includes special food needs or dietary restrictions, for which we have a nutritionist who offers one-on-one consultations. Town hall meetings, comment boards, customer satisfaction surveys, and our Dining Advisory Board all direct the events we plan and the dishes prepared by our award-winning staff of chefs – including our general manager, Chef Tom Beckmann, who was honored as a Best Chef of Louisiana by the American Culinary Federation's New Orleans chapter; our district executive chef, Travis Johnson, who was a Best Chef of Louisiana in 2012 and the ACFNO's Chef of the Year in 2014; and Chef Nicole Honoré, a pastry chef at Bruff Commons, who was a Best Chef of Louisiana in 2015. Responding to our community's ever-changing needs, our staff have adapted the menus to feature more local products – including daily fresh seafood options and traditional New Orleans breads, plus produce grown at the 50 acres of Liuzza Farm which Tulane has adopted as a preferred local supplier – many of which are available at a Farmer's Market open to the public as well as at our widely varied dining locations.
